This unique and inspiring Grade II* listed building is licensed for wedding ceremonies and civil ceremonies. We can accommodate wedding parties from 80 to 350 guests in the majestic Great Nave. The elegant Cloisters and tranquil Archangel Garden provide perfect backdrops for beautiful, memorable wedding photographs to cherish forever. Your love can really help make the world go around, as every event held here supports our charitable projects with the local community. Monastery income also contributes to the on-going restoration of this precious historical building, helping to secure a part of Manchester’s heritage for the enjoyment of generations to come. The Monastery is the ideal setting for a variety of specialist weddings including Hindu, Indian and Jewish celebrations. Please contact us for details of our recommended external caterers and the relevant tariff. Our stunning venue is complemented by free on-site parking and outstanding levels of service in every department.

(Dry hire weddings are a different price and do not include all of the above).

The team at The Monastery were simply wonderful and ensured that our day ran smoothly. We had the most amazing time with our family and friends and my instructions for the table decorations for the meal were followed perfectly. A breathtaking venue and an excellently supportive team. Fabulous. We booked our wedding before the pandemic and were meant to marry on the 1st August 2020. After rescheduling twice (the first time to April 4th 2021), we eventually tied the knot on the 12 February 2022. Nothing was too much for the team at The Monastery to do. Fran was there every step of the way and helped with every query. The day was beautiful - We provided our own table centrepieces and decorations which Fran was happy to set up before our arrival! Every member of the team was fantastic and nothing was too much trouble. Requests were carried out right away. We had such a fabulous day, celebrating with family and friends in a stunning building with an amazing team to cater for us. It could not have been better. Fabulous. From the moment we first viewed the Monastery we fell in love with it, it really does sell itself. Like many who’ve married over recent months, we’d had to postpone our original date but it was worth the wait to have the prefect day with all of our family and friends there. The whole process from the first meetings and booking, dealing with the postponement and rearranging everything and also dealing with some special requirements we had for a disabled family member was dealt with perfectly by Fran and the team. Fran made everything much easier and less stressful than it could have been especially in the current climate, we were always put at ease and felt confident that everything would come together when the day finally arrived! We got married at the Monastery on the 12th of April 2019. After attending a wedding there back in 2014 I was adamant that I would get married there one day. From the first time I took my now husband he fell in love with the venue and we are eternally grateful to Gaynor Jones and everyone at the Monastery for making our (my! ha!) dreams come to life. We were initially liaising with someone else however she left but switching to work with Gaynor was one of the best things that happened. She is extremely knowledgeable, she is efficient, passionate and hilarious and from our first meeting we hit it off, Gaynor was unbelievable from start to finish she was there the second I pulled up in my car and was the last person I spoke to before I walked down the aisle. The service from all the staff on the day was fantastic and we adored Simon who was the ops manager on the day, he is absolutely wonderful! The food was exquisite I could only see empty plates from my seat and the whole day was organised and ran to perfection. Fantastic and historical place to hold a wedding! Very grand and beautiful settings based in Manchester. I had my wedding there and was over the moon with the outcome of my day! Food was fantastic and the staff was very helpful. I had two fantastic wedding planners who help organise the whole day and who was constantly there at the end of an email for me! very professionally ran and everyone had an incredible day!Fantastic and historical place to hold a wedding! Attended a wedding here, what a fantastic venue. Atmosphere was mindblowing, the food was good. A bit strange to be disco dancing near the altar but apart from that a good place to hold your wedding. From the moment I walked in I felt calm and relaxed because I knew everything was organised and under control. The Great Nave looked amazing, I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming! We would also like to thank the caterers because the food was excellent. The venue is stunning and makes for beautiful pictures. The staff were helpful and responsive. They were flexible with us dropping stuff off, setting up and suppliers! The amazing architecture at the main church doors

Do you prefer a DJ or a live band?

It's totally dependent on the couple and their guests! DJs always bring the energy and can more easily accommodate requests (although they may not always take them!)... whereas bands are always very engaging and really get people up and dancing.

What’s your favourite canapé?

Cauliflower bang bang, chilli & sesame (plant based!)

How high are the ceilings in the Great Nave?
