Iron Broo Ceilidh Band brings the very best of live Scottish music, expert dance calling and optional DJ/disco entertainment to weddings across Scotland and beyond.
Established in 1992, we've entertained guests at over 1,000 weddings, from intimate celebrations to spectacular international events.
Choose from our popular Duo, larger traditional bands or compact One-Man Ceilidh Band. No dancing experience is needed , we explain and call every dance, getting everyone involved.
Add our professional DJ/disco for a complete evening of entertainment, with one band, one booking and an unforgettable atmosphere.
What We Offer
Live Ceilidh Music (up to 4 Hours)
We provide up to four hours of high-energy ceilidh music, perfect for most events (e.g., 8pm to midnight). We’ll take a short break during your evening buffet, ensuring a smooth flow to the night.
Dance Calling for Everyone
No prior dance experience? No problem! We’ll lead all the dances from the floor using a wireless microphone, making it easy and fun for everyone to join in — beginners and seasoned dancers alike.
Optional Folk Songs
Want to mix things up? We’re happy to perform a few lively or heartfelt folk songs to give your guests a breather from dancing.
Professional Sound & Lighting
We bring our own high-quality PA system and lighting, tailored to suit your venue — whether it’s a cosy barn or a grand hall. All our gear is PAT tested, and we carry full public liability insurance for peace of mind.

What is your most memorable wedding?
My own wedding in Lecce, Italy! I invited some musician friends to play a Scottish ceilidh. After five hours of eating and celebrating, the band finally started around 1am! It was a wonderfully memorable night and a reminder that great live music brings people together, wherever they come from.
Describe your style in 5 adjectives.
Lively, authentic, welcoming, professional and energetic.
What about your business are you most proud of?
That Iron Broo has been bringing people together through music since 1992. We've played at over 1,000 weddings, but what really makes me proud is hearing from couples whose guests had never danced a ceilidh before and absolutely loved it.
What is your No.1 wedding planning tip for couples?
Don't over-plan every minute of your evening. Give your guests time to relax, mingle and enjoy themselves. A good ceilidh is a brilliant icebreaker, particularly when two families or groups of friends are meeting for the first time.
What is your favourite personal touch you have seen at a wedding?
I've seen some wonderful touches over the years, from traditional Scottish Grand Marches bringing whole families together to Dairylea sandwiches appearing in the evening buffet! It's often the little things that make a wedding memorable.
Describe your typical booking process with a couple.
Once we've confirmed availability and agreed your entertainment package, we'll send you a straightforward electronic booking agreement to review and sign.
A 20% deposit secures your date, with the remaining balance normally due 14 days before your wedding.
We'll confirm timings, venue arrangements and any special requests in advance, making the whole process easy and stress-free.
What makes a romantic first dance?
Choose music that means something to you both. You don't need complicated choreography or a big performance, just enjoy the moment together. We're happy to help arrange the music and timing so your first dance flows naturally into the evening celebrations.
What is your number one floor-filler?
Orcadian Strip the Willow, without a doubt! When everyone joins in, the atmosphere is incredible. It's great fun for the dancers and often just as entertaining for those watching.
Which band from the past would you most like to have been part of?
Silly Wizard. What a fantastic combination of traditional Scottish music, extraordinary musicianship and infectious energy!
