Description
A private-hire woodland lodge near Tunbridge Wells, LIMEKILN is an exclusive-use wedding venue in East Sussex, across 60 acres of private Sussex countryside and ancient woodland. It’s made for couples who’d like to do things a little differently, with wildflower meadows for drinks receptions and interiors designed by Red Deer, the studio behind Lina Stores and St John.
The lodge has a dining space for up to 200 guests, a main bar and lounge, a ceremony space, and the Green Club, a late-night lounge for live music and dancing, all arranged around an open-air courtyard. A split-level Apartment is available from 8am as a getting-ready space.
For an outdoor ceremony, choose the South Lawn, Courtyard or the ancient woodland between April and September, weather permitting. Alder Room, which seats up to 180 guests for ceremonies, is a light, airy alternative when it rains. However you mix indoor and outdoor, the day will feel personal and entirely yours.
We work with Kalm Kitchen, who share our approach: delicious food made with the best seasonal produce, and wholesome ingredients from local suppliers.
Guests can reach LIMEKILN in just 50 minutes by train from London Bridge, plus a 15-minute drive from Tunbridge Wells station.

From the first time we viewed the venue we knew it was the one, it has such a warm cosy yet modern vibe. When you view it in real life vs online it has even more of a wow factor. We even loved it so much we cancelled our other viewings! The outside/garden area is restful and beautifully tendered. Plenty of seats available.Attended a fabulous wedding here yesterday. What a wonderful venue. The staff were amazing. Do we have to use your preferred suppliers, or can we bring our own?
We have a carefully curated list of recommended suppliers, from caterers to florists and wedding planners, all chosen because they share our style and ethos, but you're welcome to bring your own. We do ask that any suppliers decorating the beams in our halls are taken from our recommended list, to ensure the space is treated with care.
What are the decoration rules around confetti, candles or fireworks?
Confetti is welcome as long as it's made from fresh or dried flower petals, and while outdoor fireworks and sparklers aren't allowed due to our woodland setting, cold handheld cake sparklers inside are absolutely fine. Have something else in mind? Just ask - we'll always do our best to make it work.
Will we have a dedicated wedding producers?
Absolutely. We’ll be on hand throughout the planning process to help answer questions, guide you through the details and make everything feel as seamless as possible. We host two dedicated planning meetings, and we’re always happy to arrange catch-up calls along the way. For more intricate styling and supplier support, we’d be delighted to recommend one of our trusted wedding producers.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Our outdoor ceremony spaces — the South Lawn, Courtyard and ancient woodland — are available between April and September, weather permitting. If it rains, Alder Room is a lovely alternative: a light and airy space with whitewashed beams, seating up to 180 for ceremonies.
How long do we have the lodge for, and when can suppliers access it?
You'll have access to the Apartment from 8am on the day of your wedding for getting ready. Our team will walk you through supplier access times, load-in windows, and clearing the lodge at your planning meetings.
Do you allow dogs?
Yes, dogs are welcome for the ceremony and drinks reception. Once the wedding breakfast begins, the team ask that they are takenoff the grounds.
Can we have a live band or DJ?
Yes. Our late-night lounge, the Green Club, is the heart of the party — opulent chandeliers, antique mirrored walls, and a floor-to-ceiling bay window that makes for a seriously special backdrop for live music. Speak with the team directly for full details on sound arrangements and any limits that apply.
Is the lodge fully accessible for guests with disabilities?
Yes — the lodge is accessible for guests with step-free access across the main spaces. Please note that The Apartment is located upstairs, which may affect accessibility for members of the wedding party using this space.
Do you have a space for getting ready on the morning of the wedding?
Yes, you’ll have access to our split-level apartment from 8am on the day of your event. It comfortably accommodates around 15 people and offers a relaxed space to get ready, along with a great vantage point to watch your guests arrive below.
Where do we stay on the wedding night?
LIMEKILN is a day and evening hire rather than an overnight stay, but we'd love to help you make the most of your time with us. We have a recommended accommodation list, we're surrounded by beautiful nearby Airbnbs and local stays.
