⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disappointing Wedding Experience at Hurley House Hotel
I never imagined I would be writing a review like this about our wedding venue, but unfortunately, after the experience we had and the way our formal complaint has since been handled, I feel it’s important to share our experience with other couples considering Hurley House Hotel for their special day.
We got married at Hurley House on 24th October 2026, a day we had spent so much time, money and effort planning. We trusted the venue to make it everything we had dreamed of, but sadly, the hotel’s organisation, communication and management fell far below what we had been promised.
Our original wedding coordinator was absolutely wonderful, but following her maternity leave, the handover appeared to be extremely poor. Agreements that had previously been made were questioned, arrangements became unnecessarily stressful, and we found ourselves having to deal with issues that should have been resolved long before our wedding day.
From problems surrounding our getting-ready arrangements, confusion over previously agreed details, difficulties involving our dogs, issues with the rings, and disputes over arrangements for the evening, there seemed to be one problem after another.
One of the most uncomfortable moments for me was discovering that Robert, who was overseeing our wedding, was filming our ceremony, ourselves and our guests without ever asking for my permission. At that point, he hadn’t even introduced himself to me. I found this incredibly inappropriate and uncomfortable, particularly during such a personal and important moment.
To make matters worse, he was also visible in numerous photographs and videos from our ceremony.
What I found particularly shocking was that multiple members of the hotel’s own staff approached me throughout the day to express concerns about how poorly things were being managed. When the people working at the venue themselves are raising concerns, I think that speaks volumes.
Our photographer, content creator and evening host also expressed concerns about the way the day had been managed, which made the experience even more disappointing.
Despite all of this, we tried our best to enjoy our wedding and focus on celebrating with the people we love.
However, what has truly added insult to injury is the way Hurley House has responded to our formal complaint.
Rather than acknowledging our experience and demonstrating genuine accountability, we received a response that, in my opinion, felt incredibly one-sided and defensive. The explanations appeared to rely heavily on the accounts of the very staff members responsible for managing the day.
We were offered a complimentary dinner as a gesture, but quite frankly, we have absolutely no desire to return to a venue that has left us feeling so disappointed.
A complimentary meal does not make up for the stress, upset and disappointment surrounding a day that we can never repeat.
The most upsetting part is that we genuinely loved Hurley House when we chose it. We had such high hopes and trusted them with one of the most important moments of our lives.
Thankfully, marrying my husband and celebrating with our family and friends made our wedding day incredibly special, but that was despite the problems we experienced with the venue, not because of how it was managed.
My advice to any couple considering Hurley House Hotel for their wedding is to be extremely cautious. Make sure absolutely everything is confirmed in writing, question every arrangement, and do not assume that promises made during the planning process will necessarily be honoured on the day.
For a venue that presents itself as a luxury wedding destination, we expected so much more in terms of professionalism, organisation, communication and, most importantly, accountability when things went wrong.
We are incredibly disappointed, not just by the experience itself, but by the complete lack of understanding we felt when we raised our concerns afterwards.
Unfortunately, based on our personal experience, I cannot recommend Hurley House Hotel as a wedding venue. 💔⭐ 1 Star – Extremely Disappointing Wedding Experience at Hurley House Hotel
