In the hidden valleys of Martindale at the heart of the northern Lake District National Park, Hause Hall is a 5-star rated licensed civil wedding venue exclusively for intimate celebrations. Exclusive three-night hire accommodates up to 18 guests across nine ensuite bedrooms, no corkage and full catering freedom or the option to use a variety of great recommended local caterers.

Facilities and Capacity

Hause Hall Farm occupies a breathtaking position in Martindale, overlooking the fells of the northern Lake District National Park. The farmhouse, the detached Cruik Barn with its galleried living room and open fire, and The Stables across the courtyard together create a wonderfully characterful and self-contained setting for an intimate wedding celebration. The nearby village of Pooley Bridge at the head of Ullswater offers welcoming pubs and restaurants, and a year-round lake steamer service from the pier at the base of Hallin Fell provides a memorable outing for wedding guests without the need to drive.

The farmhouse seats up to 18 guests for dining in its large open plan kitchen, family room and dining room, with a four-oven Aga, separate gas hob and electric oven, and a lovely day room overlooking the mountains. The Cruik Barn provides a second breakfasting kitchen and additional social space. Up to four additional day guests are welcome to join the celebrations.

Hause Hall Farm is a licensed civil ceremony venue, with the option of exchanging vows in the farmhouse itself or making the most of the dramatic fell and valley setting surrounding the property with an outdoor terrace garden wedding.

Services Offered

Hause Hall Farm is a licensed civil wedding venue, with The Rowley Estates Wedding Coordinator present on the day to welcome the Registrars, oversee the ceremony and ensure everything runs seamlessly before stepping back to leave couples and their guests to celebrate. Given its elevated location in the midst of the Lake District National Park, amplified music is not permitted at Hause Hall Farm but domestic background ambient music is permitted.

Catering is entirely flexible — couples are welcome to self-cater, bring a caterer of their choice, or select from a curated list of trusted local providers offering everything from formal catered dinners to informal meal drop-offs. There is no corkage charge.

Private viewings and planning meetings are offered throughout, with coordination support from first enquiry through to the day itself, including recommendations of local photographers, florists, hair stylists, makeup artists and evening entertainment.

Pricing

Three-night exclusive hire includes accommodation across nine ensuite bedrooms, linen, towels, welcome hamper, Pure Lakes bathroom toiletries, logs, kindling, broadband and Wi-Fi. Discounts of up to 10% are available for midweek weddings and up to 20% for midweek bookings in January, February, November and early December. A fully refundable £500 security deposit is required.

Brilliant venue and amazing staffBrilliant venue and amazing staff
We got married at Hause Hall in October 2021. The venue was a perfect, intimate place with on-site accommodation for our guests. We loved the modern-rustic aesthetic of the venue, which felt very authentically Cumbrian and perfect for the setting. The ceremony room had plenty of light, with incredible views of the hills that, due to the time of year, were awash with gorgeous autumnal colours. We had a lovely walk around the hill following the ceremony, with a lake view. Even our dog got to be a part of the day 🙂 What really made it for us, though, were the staff. We had to reschedule three times due to various lockdowns. Despite having a load of other rescheduled weddings to deal with, Christina and Jo were incredibly understanding and supportive in helping us re-arrange. Despite having a smaller wedding for the site, we never felt side-lined for other bigger events. We felt the entire team, from owners to management to the cleaning staff, were lovely, friendly, and willing to go above and beyond to make our day. We have just returned from a magical stay at Hause Hall having celebrated our wedding there. We couldn’t have wished for anything more. The accommodation was superb and the location is stunning. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough all the staff were very helpful and friendly and responded to our questions very quickly. We stayed at Hause Hall in October 2021 for five days for our elopement. We really wanted to make our wedding more than just the wedding day, a real experience for our children and friends and our stay surpassed all our expectations. We booked Hause Hall without viewing due to covid restrictions but it was clear that it provided everything we wanted from the website; secluded and intimate for our tiny wedding, just eight of us, cosy but full of natural light, with easy lake and fell access and of course infinite incredible backdrops for our photographs. When we were able to view Hause Hall in person a few months later, we were blown away and it made us even more excited for our day. Christine and Joanna were so helpful, nothing was ever too much trouble and they really let us shape the day we wanted, without the formulaic approach to weddings we see at venues week in, week out being wedding photographers ourselves. The accommodation is outstanding, the kitchen is well stocked and the welcome hamper is such a lovely treat! Joanna popped in for a final planning meeting the day before the wedding, having chatted things over on the phone in the run up to the wedding and on the day Joanna was everything we needed her to be, really helpful but unobtrusive. I'd recommend Hause Hall to anyone planning an intimate wedding in the Lake District because I truly believe it's such a special place that offers you everything your could want for your day - and so much more! Our Wedding Dream Achieved. Left on May 12, 2018 for a stay in Apr 2018 My husband and I (heehee) had a small wedding with approximately 16 guests here at the end of April. We actually had Blencowe Hall booked since 2014 as we fell in love with it from a photograph. All communication from the owners, managers and latterly the wedding planner was prompt and they could not do enough to help. Even providing equipment for my granny to use (raised toilet seat and grab rails) which was very much above and beyond. We arrived early on the Friday and they very nicely allowed us to get in early which allowed me to set up the rooms and get prepared for everyone else arriving. The rooms were all flawless. Absolutely spotless and all beautiful. I loved the addition of daffodils to the rooms. Unknown to them but my favourite flower. We also had a wonderful hamper which was full of delicious and local treats. We had booked Lynn Hilditch to do our catering and she was phenomenal. We discussed our menu and she made it beautifully. We told Lynn that my family were big eaters and the amount of food was more than we could manage in one sitting. Lynn even made extra puddings as some wanted both options. Anyway, back to the hall. We had a minor hiccup on the Saturday night when my nephew was sick in his bedroom (only 7 years old). We apologised and they were again, wonderful. Asked if he was okay and told us not to worry about the room. The only downside we had the whole weekend was that the exterior lights weren't working to begin with and one of the radiators was leaking. However, the staff were amazing. Sent a plumber straight out to fix the radiator and came round themselves later to sort out the lights. Fantastic venue. Amazing meal. It really was our dream wedding. Thank you to all at Blencowe Hall/Rowley Estates for making our wedding weekend a wonderful, beautiful one and for giving us great memories of one of the biggest days of our lives. :)Our Wedding Dream Achieved. “Luxurious accommodation with outstanding views” Reviewed 22 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017 We stayed at the barn and farm as there were a number of us but we could easily accommodate everyone at the large kitchen diner/ living areas, as one group, with plenty of plates, cutlery etc. Beautiful accommodation - with great attention to the smaller but important details that one appreciates, such as the toilet sets ( Molton Brown no less!) in each of the many bathrooms. The view from the large conservatory was stunning and the gardens well kept and inviting, with plenty of outdoor seating. We loved the open fire in the living area; the rooms were warm from good central heating and plenty of hot water. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. We go away as a group twice yearly. “Fantastic accommodation in The Lakes for large groups/families” Reviewed 22 November 2017 for a stay in November 2017 Myself and 11 other fabulous friends stayed at Hause Hall and Cruik Barn last weekend and it was the best accommodation we have ever found in our 25 years of meeting up twice yearly for our girly get-togethers. The house and barn were both furnished to a very high standard, bedrooms and bathrooms all beautifully decorated and modern, warm and comfortable. The views from the conservatory are stunning and all our walks started on the doorstep. Welcomed with a fully stocked hamper too which was very much appreciated. I would love to stay there again in the future and if I could choose from all the places we've stayed, I would choose this one; it was the best of the best. Definitely the most spacious, warm, comfortable accommodation which offered the 12 of us space and relaxation away from the stresses of the big world out there.
