Facilities and Capacity
Blencowe Hall sits within a 30-acre private estate in the Eden Valley, just four miles from the Lake District National Park. The two restored sandstone castellated towers, cobbled courtyard, oak floors, flagstones, chandeliers and log fires create an extraordinary setting for a wedding celebration that feels genuinely unlike anywhere else. Guests are welcome to choose between several internal reception rooms for their ceremony or to have a garden terrace ceremony.
The Hall accommodates 24 guests across 12 individually styled double bedrooms, with additional cottage and shepherds hut accommodation on the estate bringing total onsite capacity to 54 guests. The newly renovated Byre across the cobbled courtyard is available as an optional addition at £495 including VAT, providing ceremony space for up to 100 guests and dining for up to 54, with tables and chairs included. For larger parties, a marquee or tipi can be erected in the adjoining grounds, with trusted provider recommendations available. The front lawn offers a beautiful outdoor ceremony option, weather permitting.
Services Offered
Blencowe Hall is a licensed civil wedding venue, with The Rowley Estates Wedding Coordinator present on the day to welcome the Registrars, oversee the ceremony and ensure everything runs seamlessly before stepping back to leave couples and their guests to celebrate in complete privacy.
Catering is entirely flexible — couples are welcome to self-cater, bring a caterer of their choice, or select from a curated list of trusted local providers offering everything from formal catered dinners to wood-fired pizzas and hog roasts. There is no corkage charge.
Private viewings and planning meetings are offered throughout, with coordination support from first enquiry through to the day itself, including recommendations of local photographers, florists, hair stylists, makeup artists and evening entertainment.
Pricing
Three-night exclusive hire includes ensuite accommodation for up to 54 guests, exclusive private use of the Hall, gardens and all reception spaces, with the option of hosting your ceremony indoors or on the front lawn, plus linen, towels, welcome hampers, bathroom toiletries, logs, kindling, broadband and Wi-Fi. The optional Byre provides ceremony space for up to 100 guests and dining for up to 54. Where neighbouring cottages are occupied by separate guest groups, background music levels apply; full amplified music is available when all adjoining cottages and shepherds huts are reserved exclusively.
Discounts of up to 10% are available for midweek weddings and up to 20% for midweek bookings in January, February, November and early December. A fully refundable £500 security deposit is required.

The hall had everything we needed and the grounds were the perfect setting for our wedding ceremony. Christine and Joanna were amazing from booking to the big day, always on hand if we needed anything. Our families loved the weekend in the castle and we’ll never forget our stay there. All the recommended suppliers that we used were fabulous - its certainly worth using the ones on the list supplied! We were lucky enough to be able to get married outside in the gardens, with a brass band present and a wonderful reception & wedding party for 50 people in the Byre. If anyone is looking for a perfect wedding venue - look no further. It couldn't have been better and will not only be memorable to us - but also to all our guests - who all loved it too - many saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to! We enjoyed a wonderful wedding weekend at Blencowe Hall - it was a perfect venue and the team that helped with the recommendations of suppliers and preparation could not have been more helpful. From the start, communication and planning with Joanna and Christine was fantastic, they always responded to emails and gave so much information, it really helped with planning from afar. Our two visits to view the venue beforehand really settled our nerves and again, Joanne helped us along with hints and tips as well as supporting us with our own ideas. On the weekend of the wedding we arrived to a clean and tidy house, with everything we needed for all our friends and family. The kitchen is well stocked with enough things for hundreds of people, let only the 30 of us! We got married in the Solar Room upstairs, with all our guests seated comfortable and with enough space for me to walk down the aisle with my dad. We used an Amp for just which worked great in the room. We also then used the same room for the party after dinner, again, plenty of room for dancing and also chatting. The fire places were well used Sunday for toasted marshmallows and chats with friends. All the bedrooms are really comfy, all our guests said how great they slept and how comfy the mattresses were. All but 2 bedrooms are en suite but still have a private bathroom down the hall. This worked well for us as a group of 3 friends were able to share. We used the South Tower main bedroom, top floor, as our wedding suite. There was plenty of room for me and my bridesmaids in the morning, along with both mums and hair and makeup being done. There is also a separate dressing room were I was able to put my dress on in private. The balcony and windows gave for some stunning views! If we could do it all again, we would pick this venue over and over again! We really can't recommend it enough and are already planning when we can next get family together to book the main house again! Blencowe Hall's dining room and solor room are also brilliant for the wedding breakfast and evening entertainment for a smaller number of people. The Rowley Estate staff are lovely, kind and helpful. They respond very quickly to emails and phone calls and give fantastic advice and help. The house and cottages are beautiful accommodation, giving your wedding a lovely holiday feel for you and all your guests. The building is absolutely stunning, mixing modern amenities with the grandeur of a centuries old building, and the location is perfect on the doorstep of the lakes, you can see the rolling countryside for miles with snow capped mountains in the distance. Gillian was exceptionally helpful in organising our day and planning our ceremony, nothing was too much trouble for her. The catering for the wedding was fulfilled by Lynn Hilditch and was absolutely exceptional, the dining room would go completely quiet with each course served. The whole wedding party was in agreement that it was some of the best food they had ever eaten, especially the pork which had been cooking since 4 am! I couldn't recommend Lynn highly enough, she really helped make the weekend and was very personable to match. Originally we had been looking at a number of different venues, right up until we pulled up at Blencowe Hall for the first time and instantly fell in love with it. The sheer beauty and character of the place meant this was the place for us. The hall has been immaculately restored, bringing it up to modern standards without compromising on the historical character. It feels grand, yet cosy, and the views all around are incredible. We had the ceremony in the Solar Room, which for our 65 guests was about the right size. We then hired a tipi for the reception which was placed in the field behind the cottages, keeping everything close by. All of our wedding guests commented on how amazing the place was, and some are even thinking of booking it in the future for family gatherings! The team could not have been more accommodating and did all she could to make our week-long stay there as stress-free as possible. We also booked out the three cottages that make up the whole site, meaning all of our immediate family could stay on site.
