Birkhill Castle is a stunning building on the banks of the River Tay set within 1500 acres of Scottish woodland, farmland and coastal areas. Built in 1780, it is the ancestral home of the Earl of Dundee and his family who, until recently, used the castle as their family home. Despite the fact that Birkhill Castle is steeped in history and grandeur, it offers a warm welcome when you step through the front door. Although the castle is now a business, there are plenty thoughtful touches to make this a luxury home from home. We offer a minimum 2-night stay wedding package that means your wedding will be an event worthy of the occasion. You will get exclusive use of the castle and use of the estate during your stay so it really does feel like you are getting that fairy tale wedding you've always dreamed of. Birkhill Castle has 13 double bedrooms, 1 twin room and 2 single rooms so can sleep 30 adults. We also have a beautiful nursery room that can sleep 6 children. Every room has their own private bathroom as well as ample storage and beautiful views out onto the estate and over the River Tay.
We now have our newly built Glasshouse in the Walled Garden which can seat up to 120 people in a tropical paradise hidden on the estate. You can have an outdoor wedding reception in the Walled Garden before having a seated meal in our Glasshouse before the staff turn it around for a spacious room for dancing in the evening.
We have many different locations that the ceremony can take place from inside the Grand Ballroom to an outdoor ceremony on the front lawn overlooking the Firth of Tay. Every wedding here is bespoke and we can help you create an unforgettable wedding day. We are in a perfect location as well to see some of Scotland’s finest sights. Only 20 minutes from St Andrews, an hour to Edinburgh and an hour and a half to the Cairngorm National Park, you can have a true Scottish experience. Our location also offers our golfing couples with a very unique opportunity. There are over 100 golf courses within an hours drive of the Castle including the Old Course in St Andrews, the championship courses at Gleneagles and Carnoustie.
